Spoilers for the ending and Aria and Tenable’s past in Cheat Skill “Resurrection” Awakened, and I Revived the Ancient Demon Lord Army.
When Tenable stepped into the foreground, my first thought was:
“Who is this guy? And why is he so strong?”
He suddenly becomes prominent near the end, with final-boss power. The volume 10 description calls him the strongest enemy yet and says he carries a 200-year grudge against Aria as he tears through the demon army.[3]

But his history with Aria makes him oddly convincing. This is not a brand-new threat. It is a 200-year-old unpaid invoice coming due.
Your Majesty, that was an enemy-training quest
In the backstory, Aria destroys a demi-human village in events connected to Rose’s training. Tenable survives. Aria even seems somewhat amused by someone who might someday threaten her.
For her, it may have been one battle among many. For the victims, it destroyed their entire lives.
One side has “That happened ages ago.” The other has “I will never forget.” That difference lasts 200 years.
And the one who never forgot returns as a real threat.
Threat prediction: perfect. Response: disastrous.
Attacking a possible danger gave him a reason to defeat her. Trying to avoid that future helped produce it.
I find it more interesting to read Aria as partly creating Tenable, rather than simply spotting what he would become.
Joining the hero’s side does not delete the records
The comparison with Licht makes it even more ironic.
People fear his Resurrection skill. On the king’s orders, his companions betray him and he is executed. He then revives himself and the ancient demon army.[1]
Someone targeted for elimination before he becomes dangerous ends up seeking revenge.
Tenable’s personality and circumstances differ, but the demon lord’s violence destroys his life. He survives and returns for revenge 200 years later. The pattern of striking first at someone you fear overlaps.
The demon army is now on the protagonist’s side, yet it once acted rather like the humans who wronged him. Becoming allies does not erase a destroyed village.
Tenable comes to collect.
That does not justify everything he does. It does mean this is not a random monster attacking an innocent army for no reason.
Such a strong connection deserved an earlier shadow
My frustration is not that his history is weak. It is strong enough that I wanted to feel his presence earlier.
Hints of the destroyed village or rumors of a survivor might have changed “Who is this?” into “That old disaster finally came back.” That is how I wish the introduction had worked, not a claim those scenes happened.
Chapter 51 includes “Tenable (3)”.[2] Whether his buildup felt sufficient remains my reading impression.
His arrival as a powerful enemy bothers me. His role as the avenger Aria helped create makes sense. Both can be true.
Aria trained Rose. Yet judging by results, was Tenable her greatest accidental success?
Training method: destroy his village. Training period: 200 years. Result: the strongest enemy yet. On the enemy team.
