Here's where it came from, why people use it as a sarcastic slow clap, and why it keeps landing in your feed.
You open your feed. There it is again.
That's an impressive amount of office etiquette for an animal that was just fed. And no, this is not footage of a cat that somehow grew human teeth and hands.[1][2]
1. Excuse me, whose teeth are those?
The eyes say cat. The smile says someone with a very ordinary dentist.
It's the mismatch that makes the clip so unnerving. Your brain starts with “aww, a cat” and is immediately handed a face that looks like it pays for dental insurance.
Nobody ordered that upgrade.
2. Covering your mouth just makes you look guiltier
The cat then covers its mouth, as if it has suddenly realized it showed too much.
Did it reveal its human identity? Is it embarrassed by its gums? Is there an undercover person in there?
Those are jokes, not revelations about the video's plot. But the gesture creates a wonderfully ridiculous suspicion: it appears to know its smile is evidence.

4. Viral doesn't necessarily mean you asked to watch it again
The original video was posted on Instagram on September 25, 2026. People quickly reused it in cutouts, green-screen clips and new jokes across platforms.[1][2]
An Arabic-language reaction post on X had roughly 5.3 million impressions in the example circulating at the time. Its automatically translated replies included someone wanting to undo a reaction because the cat was scary—and a reply threatening to send it into their dreams. Even the customer service is haunted.[4]
We cannot know from that alone why a particular recommendation feed showed it repeatedly. But when countless versions circulate, you don't have to seek out the cat. Different uploads can come looking for you.
There's a big difference between “I can't stop watching” and “this thing won't stop appearing.”
5. If three views were fatal, the feed would be the villain
Imagine, entirely as a joke, that this video carried a curse: watch it three times and die.
First appearance: “Why does it have human gums?”
Second: “Not you again.”
Third: The recommendation feed has personally delivered your doom.
There is no curse, of course. The actual punchline is simpler: the cat keeps offering a handshake, and the viewer never agreed to the meeting.
