As of October 12, 2026. This only covers the premise of episode 1, with no spoilers.
Goku is back to farming, Beerus wakes up hunting for the Super Saiyan God, and you're thinking, "Wait, didn't I already watch this?" You did, and you didn't hit the wrong button. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is a fresh remake of the start of Dragon Ball Super. It is not a brand-new sequel picking up Goku's story afterward. Fans have already been lining up the new trailer against scenes from the original.
The setup is the same: Majin Buu is beaten, Earth is peaceful, and then the God of Destruction wakes up. But "same story" doesn't mean "same footage." The new version has been described as having reworked animation, changed or added scenes, new music and newly recorded voices. Think of it as a re-release with a new coat of paint, not a rerun.
If you want to see the early fights again with updated visuals, that's a good reason to watch. If what you're really asking is "when does Goku's next story start?", this show doesn't answer that. Beerus hasn't visited Earth twice in the plot. We're the ones going back to watch his first visit.
What we can't say yet: whether every scene is redrawn, or how much the story itself changes. And this premiere tells us nothing about the date of any separate sequel; that needs its own announcement.
Short answer: it's the familiar opening story, remade with new visuals and sound. It is not the next chapter on the timeline.
