Developer-confirmed v1.2 routes: door refusals, Edith's dialogue choices, Ending 3 versus 4, and the gallery trigger.

Arthur Hope claims he can photograph the dead. Meeting a real ghost, Edith, changes the stakes. To collect every ending, track both Arthur's treatment of Edith and the number of times he refuses the door. Full spoilers follow.

All four endings

Ending Requirement Actions and outcome Evidence URL Build Spoiler
1 — Remember you must die Send Edith away Send her away → Dismiss her for Ending 1 https://endysis.itch.io/portrait-of-a-ghost/devlog/828426/ending-guide v1.2 Yes
2 — Fame is Fleeting Let her go in dialogue and refuse the door at least twice No he didn't. He let her go → refuse to answer the door at least twice → Two door refusals lead to Ending 2 https://endysis.itch.io/portrait-of-a-ghost/devlog/828426/ending-guide v1.2 Yes
3 — Swansong Abandon the conversation while following Ending 4's route follow Ending 4 path → Arthur dropped the subject → Dropping the subject guarantees Ending 3; other routes exist https://endysis.itch.io/portrait-of-a-ghost/devlog/828426/ending-guide v1.2 Yes
4 — Seize the Day Refuse the door no more than once; show concern refuse door no more than once → Arthur stopped her, concerned → Would you like to? → Two caring responses lead to Ending 4 https://endysis.itch.io/portrait-of-a-ghost/devlog/828426/ending-guide v1.2 Yes

Efficient collection order

Start with the dismissal for Ending 1. Ending 2 requires both the indicated response and at least two refusals to answer the door. For Ending 4, keep refusals at zero or one and select the two compassionate replies. Ending 3 has multiple routes, but the creator guarantees it if you follow the path toward 4 and then drop the subject. A save before late decisions may reduce replaying; the exact save position has not been tested.

Gallery and version changes

The gallery unlocks after Ending 4, not necessarily after all four endings. Patch 1.2 on November 4, 2024 added a bad ending, renumbered earlier outcomes and changed Ending 4's conditions. Old guides can therefore mislabel routes. The browser build may lag; downloading is recommended by the creator.

Sources and verification limits

The official guide confirms these key choices but not every alternative to Ending 3, internal counters or unlock rules for individual images. This is a documented walkthrough, not a firsthand playthrough. Checked October 22, 2026. Player interest in the gallery is visible in comments; search volume is unmeasured.

Conclusion

Dismiss Edith for 1, refuse the door twice for 2, drop the subject on the caring path for 3, and remain receptive for 4. Target Ending 4 first if the gallery is your goal.
