Summary: The Japanese companion app Puzzle & Dragons Battle became Puzzle & Dragons Radar on October 1, 2026. Its PvP modes, team screens and crown display ended, but map exploration and links to the main Puzzle & Dragons game remain available.

Did Puzzle & Dragons Battle disappear when its battles ended? No: the Japanese app continues under its earlier name, Puzzle & Dragons Radar. The October 1, 2026 update retired the combat side and kept the map and companion features.

Why the name change matters

GungHo announced the switch on July 30. The September final season was the last chance to play its battle modes. After the October update, the Battle and Team menus could no longer be opened. A separate update note says crowns earned through the battle experience would also stop being displayed.

That is the painful part for anyone who treated a team or a crown as a record of time spent playing. This wasn't merely swapping an app icon. The old competitive scrapbook left the interface with the mode itself.

So what can you actually do now?

The map remains. Radar lets players use in-app Monster Points, or MP, to collect certain treasures from a distance, with the cost depending on how far away they are. MP can also be exchanged for colored drops used by the connected Puzzle & Dragons game. GungHo said Gold and MP would continue to be obtainable and usable.

In other words, the app has shifted back toward its original companion role: turning places on a map into things to collect for Puzzle & Dragons. The target used to be another player's team; now it's a treasure marker a few kilometres away. Different kind of boss fight, perhaps, but at least the map has something to say.

Why some overseas players were confused

In an August 3 Reddit discussion, one user asked whether the announcement affected Japan only; another described the change as a further shift in the app's name and direction. Those are examples of actual comments, not evidence of a community-wide verdict. The distinction also matters for overseas readers: this announcement concerns the Japanese Radar/Battle companion app, rather than a worldwide shutdown of the main Puzzle & Dragons game.

Future map additions would require new official notices. For now, the answer is specific: the battles ended; the map-based app continued. The radar still has a signal—even if the competitive scoreboard has gone quiet.
