As of October 12, 2026, the official information checked here gives no release year for Re:Zero Season 5. The years 2029 and 2030 come from a fan discussion, not from the anime's official site. This article only covers release timing, with no story spoilers.
It started with a Reddit post on October 8 asking: "Should Season 5 wait until 2029 or 2030?" That's a question about what fans would prefer, not a leak about the real schedule. The replies split. Some said they'd happily wait years if it means a carefully made season. One person hoped for 2028. Others worried that the later story arcs would get crammed into too few episodes. Plenty of opinions, but nobody claimed to have seen a production schedule.
Season 4, on the other hand, came with clear dates. The official site of the Japanese anime lists the Loss Arc with 11 episodes, starting April 8, 2026, and the Recapture Arc with 8 episodes, starting August 12. It even lists where to watch. For Season 5, that same page has nothing comparable yet.
That difference is the key point. Wanting the next season soon and wanting it done right are both fair, but mixing those wishes together won't produce a premiere date. Subaru gets to go back and try again when things go wrong; fans can't rewind the release calendar.
So Season 5 hasn't been "pushed to 2030," and it isn't "set for 2028" either. The announcement, the airing date and how much of the story it will cover are all still open. The next real clue will be an official announcement, not a fan-made timeline.
