Description: No Rest for the Wicked version 1.0 slipped to March 2027, but the announcement named PC and PS5 rather than Xbox. Here is what Moon Studios confirmed, what Xbox players are worried about, and what to watch next.

There has been no announcement cancelling No Rest for the Wicked on Xbox. The important distinction is that the March 2027 version 1.0 window applies to PC and PlayStation 5. Reporting on the September 1, 2026 announcement places Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 later, without a specific date. A release window for one platform is not automatically a release window for every platform.[1][2]

The delay is real, but it has a defined scope

Moon Studios, the developer behind the Ori games, launched No Rest for the Wicked into Steam Early Access on April 18, 2024. Its planned October 2026 full release has moved to March 2027. In its September 1 statement, the studio said it needed more time for performance, the class system, and overall polish.[1][2]

The studio also outlined an open beta for December 2026 and PlayStation pre-orders beginning in January 2027. Steam customers who buy before January 1, 2027 are promised founder rewards. Those details matter because they describe concrete work between the delay announcement and launch, rather than leaving fans with only a new month on a calendar.[1]

Why the missing Xbox name matters

In a September 1 discussion on r/xbox, a player pointed out that the announcement discussed Steam and PS5 without mentioning Xbox. Replies ranged from resignation about an Xbox release to theories involving Xbox Series S optimisation. These are genuine reactions, not an official diagnosis of what is holding the port back. Moon Studios did not identify Series S as the cause of this delay in its announcement.[3]

The distinction also prevents two opposite mistakes: telling Xbox owners the game is cancelled, or promising them a March 2027 launch. The available announcement supports neither claim. The reported plan is a later Xbox release with the date still to be specified.[2]

What the December beta can and cannot answer

An open beta in December is a meaningful sign that Moon Studios plans another round of public testing before version 1.0. It does not, by itself, guarantee Xbox access. Players should check the separate eligibility and platform details when those are published.[1]

Another concern surfaced in the game's own community: some players had yet to see the redesigned class system in action. A detailed Wicked Inside developer presentation, platform-specific store pages, and a dated Xbox announcement would therefore answer more than another general reassurance.[4]

The useful takeaway

PC and PS5 players have a March 2027 target; Xbox players have a later release plan to watch. The game has already been playable on PC since 2024, so the question is not whether No Rest for the Wicked exists. It is when that particular door opens on Xbox. Watch the platform label next to the release date, not just the giant “1.0” on the trailer.[1][2]
