As of October 12, 2026. This covers the opening premise and publication history, not the manga's final twist.

The manga is finished in three volumes; an anime-original ending is not confirmed. After the premiere, viewers wondered whether a short source could be adapted in full or whether the anime might add new material. Both are possibilities, not announcements.

KADOKAWA released volume three on January 26, 2024 and explicitly calls it the concluding volume. A published ending exists. That does not prove the series was forcibly cancelled: the number of books cannot reveal an editor's reasoning.

The official setup is thirteen years after Red Day, when a catastrophe destroyed much of humanity. Aki leaves her isolated village with friends to search for her father. Cities swarm with zombies, yet the children are delighted by places they have never seen. Think school field trip, except the strangers might bite. That contrast between horror and discovery makes the premise memorable.

The anime officially began broadcasting in Japan on October 3, 2026. The materials checked do not promise a full adaptation within a fixed number of episodes or announce an alternative finale. A complete manga gives the producers a destination, but it does not tell us which route they will take. Fans can wonder about extra episodes; they cannot report them as fact.
