Xbox has confirmed its October 15 departure. For anyone halfway through Expedition 33, the big question is whether keeping the download is enough.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 leaves Xbox Game Pass on October 15, 2026. An installed copy does not extend the access granted by the subscription. To continue afterward, you will need to own the game.
Xbox named Expedition 33 in its October 7 announcement, covering cloud, consoles and PC. This is a change to the subscription catalog, not a notice that the game itself will stop being sold.
The timing can sting. You finally get comfortable with parries, figure out your party builds and start to care deeply about where the story is heading. Then an expiry date appears, turning an absorbing RPG into a race against the clock. In a Game Pass discussion, one player said their half-finished run would now take priority. Others regretted having only just started; some considered buying a copy to support the studio. These are individual reactions, not a survey of every player.
Xbox's Game Pass rules explain the distinction: subscribers can access a title while it remains in the library and their membership is active. Downloading a file is different from having a permanent license. Buying the game separately provides a separate ownership-based route to play.
Your save is a different question from your access. If you intend to move from the Xbox PC version to a different storefront, check save compatibility before buying rather than assuming every PC edition shares progress.
You can rush to the credits before October 15, or buy the game and explore at your own pace. The deadline belongs to Game Pass, not to the story itself.
